    CAD

    There are three CAD options: Complete, Adjustment & Machine Code:

    Complete
    You provide us with sketches or an idea, and we will generate CAD for you approval. Our expert CAD technicians and engineers design parts and assemblies that are aesthetic, practically machinable and function to specification. We produce photo-real renderings so you can review your design in a life like state prior to production.

    Adjustment
    You provide us CAD work and we will review it and make adjustments for machining and assembly. We will discuss any alterations required prior to production.

    Machine Code
    You provide us with CAD data and we will translate this to toolpaths and write machine code for your project.

  2. 22D Routing

    2D Routing

    We cut precise shapes in materials to tolerances of +/- 0.1mm. We use the best carbide cutting bits on the market to provide a sharp finish and component repeatability. Our router beds cut sheets as large as to 3050x2050mm, and components as small as 50mm x 50mm.

    For most through cuts in timber sheet products above 12mm thick, we use a minimum cutter diameter of 6.35mm which means internal radii of 3.175mm. For thinner sheets we can use a 4mm diameter cutter, reducing the internal radii to 2mm. Please see how internal corners can be machined here.

    To fully utilise sheet material, we will nest parts in the most efficient formation to minimise wastage and lower your cost.

  3. 33D Routing & Carving

    3D Routing & Carving

    We route in 3D up to a depth of 80mm into workpieces of up a depth of 100mm, this offers creative opportunities to carve and sculpt intricate contours. This Contour map was cut in a 60mm deep European oak blank. The first stage of the cutting process is cutting a near net shape with a large cutter to remove the majority of the waste material. Next a smaller ball nose cutter is used to carve the finished surface. The tool steps over a very small increments to provide a very smooth finish.  Smaller step-overs result in higher resolution carvings with a smoother surface finish, this does increase the machining rime and cost.  Materials can also be laminated and layered after cutting to assemble pieces with deeper contours.  Depending on the geometry of your project, we will select the best suited cutting bits to optimise surface finish.

    Laser Cutting

    We laser cut solid woods, plywood, MDF, clear acrylic, opaque acrylic, coloured acrylic, HIPS, ABS, expanded polyethylene (Zotefoam), paper and fabrics. The cutting bed size is 850x1220mm, which dictates the largest component size. We can laser etch, mark and cut through material, in addition we have a fourth axis for rotational engraving.

  5. 5Laminate & Veneer Pressing

    Laminate & Veneer Pressing

    We press veneers and laminates onto plywood and MDF, utilising our 130 ton heated veneer press. The cost of pressing laminates or veneers to 1220×2440 sheet material is £35+VAT for the first sheet and £25+VAT for subsequent sheets.

    Joinery

    Once we have precision cut your parts, we also have joinery workshops to finish and assemble complete products.We have a lamination studio to laminate timber boards with real wood veneers, melamine and plastic laminates.This expanding coffee table is an assembly of 33 components that have been glued, drilled, laminated, veneered and assembled to completion.
